Enrol in an Austswim Training Course
AUSTSWIM is the national organisation for teaching swimming and water safety in Australia. Their licenses and training programs are the industry standard for all instructors in Australia. To become a AUSTSWIM swimming teacher you must complete their Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety accreditation. Alongside this course, you should have an up to date first aid and CPR certificate. The great thing about becoming an instructor is that there are training courses happening regularly, all across Australia!
Get your practice hours up!
After you have completed your swimming and water safety course and your CPR training is up to date, you have to complete 20 practical teaching hours including observation and supervision. These hours are where you can show off all that great knowledge you’ve developed throughout the course and strengthen your skills.
Apply for a job
After completing your course, ensuring you have a current CPR training certificate and you’ve completed your practical hours, you are ready to start applying for swimming instructor positions!
